Where To Spend Spring Break In Virginia

Virginia might be for lovers, but it’s also for so many others too. It’s for thrill seekers, outdoorsy types, beachgoers, history buffs – you name it. Whatever category you fall into, there’s a place you can find where to spend spring break in Virginia. Here are a couple of suggestions you might enjoy.

Theme Parks

Are you into theme parks? Virginia has its share. Busch Gardens in Williamsburg and Kings Dominion located north of Richmond are two very popular destinations, and for good reason. There are many exciting rides at both of these parks. If you’re into water parks, well, you don’t have to wait until the weather gets warm. Consider the Massanutten Resort or Great Wolf Lodge.

Outdoors

With the weather starting to warm up a bit, you may want to hit a park or trail. In fact, the Shenandoah National Park offers plenty of opportunities to hike, camp, and more – as do the 39 state parks in Virginia. There’s also the eight natural caverns located in Virginia’s Southwest and Shenandoah Valley regions with awe-inspiring underground formations. Oh, and don’t forget about kid-friendly bike trails like the Virginia Creeper Trail.

Beaches

The Atlantic Ocean might still be a tad on the chilly side if you want to swim, but there’s still plenty to do at the beach: volleyball, football, sandcastles, long walks on the beach. You may also enjoy fishing from one of the public piers. Check out Virginia Beach, Cape Charles, or another spot.

Historic Sites

History abounds in Virginia. Few states in America can match it. There’s Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. Plus, the presidents – Virginia gave the country eight of them, more than any other state in the Union: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson. From Mount Vernon to Monticello, all eight have a distinct historical site dedicated to them. You may want to consider these other locales too:
