Red Velvet Cheesecake Swirl Brownies: Ingredients

Did you know some people think red velvet cake and chocolate cake is the same thing? Well, that’s far from the truth and its doubly true when it comes to regular brownies and red velvet brownies, so unfortunately you can’t just buy a box of Duncan Hines double fudge brownie mix and add red food color. Instead, head to grocery store and grab the following ingredients.

  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • ½ cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ounce of red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of distilled white vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • ¾ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese at room temperature
  • ¼ cup of white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ of teaspoon vanilla extract

Red Velvet Cheesecake Swirl Brownies: Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan
  3. In a large mixing  bowl, whisk sugar and melted butter.
  4. One at a time, xix in cocoa powder, red food coloring, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, vinegar, and salt. make sure to mix well after each addition to avoid lumps.
  5. Mix in 2 eggs until they are thoroughly combined
  6. Stir in flour just until combined.
  7. Set aside 1/4 cup of batter and pour the remaining batter into the baking pan.
  8. Make the cheese cake filling in a separate bowl by beating cream cheese using an electric mixer on medium speed until it’s light and fluffy. Add 1/4 cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. Then, continue to beat until it is well blended and only small lumps remain.
  9. Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie batter and smooth it gently over the top of the batter.
  10. Our the reserved batter over the top of the cream cheese. Then, drag a knife or skewer through the batter to create swirls
  11. Cook in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until the top is dry and the edges have begun to pull away from the pan.
  12. Allow to completely cool, cut into bars and store in the refrigerator. Then, cut the brownies into yummy bars.
